CSGG APPEALS TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR POSITIVE ENDORSEMENT AND SPEEDY PASSAGE OF THE 2026 BUDGET
A Call to Duty in the Interest of National Security, Unity, and Shared Prosperity
The leadership of the Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG) respectfully calls on the Distinguished Senate President, the Rt. Honourable Speaker, and Honourable Members of the National Assembly to grant a positive, patriotic, and timely endorsement to the 2026 Appropriation Bill presented by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and ensure its smooth passage for assent into law.
The 2026 Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity is not a routine fiscal exercise; it is a national stabilisation instrument designed to secure Nigeria, protect lives, strengthen institutions, and unify the country under a common purpose.
Why the National Assembly’s Positive Endorsement Matters:
CSGG notes that the 2026 Budget:
Prioritises national defence and internal security with a historic allocation of ₦5.41 trillion, recognising security as the backbone of development;
Introduces a clear and unified counter-terrorism framework to decisively confront banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and violent crimes;
Strengthens economic recovery and investor confidence, driven by improved security outcomes;
Emphasises discipline, transparency, and accountability in public spending;
Aligns fully with the constitutional responsibility of the legislature to promote peace, order, and good governance.
A prompt and positive legislative endorsement will send a strong signal to Nigerians and the international community that Nigeria’s democracy works in unity, not division, especially at critical moments in the nation’s journey.
A Call for National Interest Above Partisan Lines:
CSGG urges Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members to rise above partisan considerations and view the 2026 Budget through the lens of:
National security,
Economic stability,
Social cohesion, and
The collective future of the Nigerian people.
At a time when Nigerians demand results, delay or uncertainty in budget passage could undermine implementation timelines, particularly in the defence and security sector, where urgency saves lives.

CSGG firmly believes that:
The 2026 Budget deserves constructive scrutiny, not obstruction;
Oversight should strengthen implementation, not weaken national resolve;
A united Executive , Legislative front is essential to defeating insecurity and restoring confidence.
We therefore appeal to the National Assembly to:
Grant the 2026 Budget a positive and patriotic endorsement;
Ensure expedited legislative processing;
Facilitate timely presidential assent into law in the interest of Nigeria’s stability and unity.
Nigeria stands at a defining moment. History will remember those who chose cooperation over conflict, progress over delay, and unity over division.
The 2026 Budget is a bridge to a safer, stronger, and more united Nigeria.
