Stakeholders Call for Peace, Inclusive Governance as Support Grows for Security Reforms in Kaduna

Key political and civic stakeholders in Kaduna State have renewed calls for peace, social harmony, and inclusive governance, stressing that security, justice, and development must rise above partisan considerations.
This position emerged during an engagement led by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Victor Mathew Bobai, with Hon. Mathew Gwazah, former Member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and National Coordinator of Friends of CG Musa, and Ambassador Polycarp Gankon, former APGA gubernatorial candidate and National Convener of the Musawa Movement.
The engagement focused on strengthening inter-communal harmony and mobilising collective support for Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism, while reinforcing Kaduna State as a model of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.
Bobai noted that the current security architecture under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, reflects a unified national strategy anchored on professionalism, intelligence-led operations, and respect for human dignity.
“Governor Uba Sani has emerged as a rallying point for peace, fairness, and social justice in Kaduna State,” Bobai said. “His collaborative relationship with Mr President and the Honourable Minister of Defence has strengthened coordination against terrorism and violent extremism, while restoring confidence among communities.”
Bobai appealed to political groups, civil society actors, and community leaders to emulate the example of Friends of CG Musa and the Musawa Movement, stressing that not every gathering should be driven by partisan ambition.
“Every platform does not have to be political,” he said. “Some must be supportive , supportive of peace, unity, and a shared vision where Muslims and Christians jointly pursue a productive and secure environment.
This is consistent with the ideals and commitments of General CG Musa, whose current focus is solely on securing Nigeria.”
He emphasized that General Musa is not contesting for any political office, but is fully engaged in his national assignment to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity and create an enabling environment for economic and social development.
Despite not being members of the ruling APC, both coordinators expressed strong support for President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and General Musa rooted in confidence in leadership, competence, and patriotism rather than party affiliation.
Ambassador Polycarp Gankon disclosed that he has received pressure from various political actors to challenge the current state leadership but maintained that his priority remains good governance.
“Once good governance is visible, our prayer is continuity in fairness, equity, and justice,” Gankon said. “I have seen Governor Uba Sani maintain a strong and respectful relationship with my brother, General CG Musa, and I see no reason not to encourage him to do more.”
He added that while political decisions ahead of 2027 are still under review, leadership balance particularly religious inclusivity at both state and federal levels remains critical.
“The present situation demands deliberate balance,” he said. “We are studying events carefully and will, at the appropriate time, guide our supporters.”
On his part, Hon. Mathew Gwazah announced plans to launch a massive voter registration drive in Southern Kaduna, targeting communities that lost voter cards during years of violent attacks.
“During the eight years of the previous administration, many of our people were displaced, homes destroyed, and voter cards lost,” Gwazah said. “Our people must be encouraged to re-engage. I have taken it upon myself to deploy my resources to train volunteers for this exercise.”
Gwazah described himself as an advocate of good governance, noting that while party loyalty remains personal, national interest must come first.
“General CG Musa is carrying out a patriotic assignment that deserves our collective support,” he said.
Bobai concluded by urging major stakeholders across Kaduna and Nigeria to recognise and support leadership where it is evident, arguing that Governor Uba Sani represents a clear departure from the past.
“Governor Uba Sani has brought something different restoring dignity, rebuilding trust, and easing tensions left by the previous administration that divided communities and burdened the state with debt,” he said. “Today, Kaduna is breathing better and enjoying a fresher atmosphere.”
Addressing concerns over reported kidnappings in Kajuru, Bobai reiterated that the Uba Sani administration has never denied the reality of insecurity nor trivialised the pain of victims.
“What the government insists on is verification, due process, and responsible communication,” he stated.
“In an environment where conflict entrepreneurs weaponise unverified claims to incite panic, Governor Uba Sani has chosen intelligence-led responses over propaganda.”
He warned that attempts to frame security briefings as cover-ups are aimed at manufacturing outrage, not uncovering truth.
“This government will not politicise human tragedy,” Bobai said. “Our focus remains collaboration with security agencies, open support for victims, and sustainable peace.”
