Abuja — The national leadership of the Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG) has reaffirmed its firm support for good governance and inclusive leadership, expressing confidence that Nigerians will rally behind the current administration in 2027 if key principles of fairness, equity, and national cohesion are sustained.
Speaking in Abuja, the National Coordinator of CSGG, Dr. Adeosun Olayinka, said growing public confidence in governance outcomes particularly improvements in national security under the leadership of the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.) is strengthening nationwide trust in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Olayinka dismissed claims linking General Musa to any vice-presidential ambition, describing such narratives as speculative and misleading. He stressed that the Defence Minister remains fully committed to his national assignment and has never indicated interest in elective office.
“General Christopher Musa is focused on delivering results in a sensitive national role, and his leadership is producing measurable gains for Nigerians,” Olayinka said. “Attempts to drag his name into political conjecture are unnecessary and distract from the larger national interest.”
He explained that public references to General Musa stem from his professional credibility, performance-driven leadership, and broad national acceptance across religious, ethnic, and regional divides—attributes that resonate with Nigerians seeking stability and competence in public office.
According to CSGG, the strengthening of the country’s security architecture and coordinated leadership within the defence sector have contributed significantly to renewed confidence in governance, helping to expand cross-regional and grassroots support for the current administration.
“The emerging reality is that Nigerians are increasingly aligning around performance, accountability, and national interest,” Olayinka noted. “Support is no longer dictated solely by party lines or ethnic considerations, but by visible outcomes that affect everyday lives.”
He emphasized that discussions around political balance and leadership composition ahead of 2027 transcend partisan boundaries and should be understood as part of a wider national conversation on equity, justice, and long-term political stability.
Describing the moment as pivotal, Olayinka said the debate ranks among the most consequential political discussions leading into 2027, attracting attention from domestic stakeholders and international democratic partners who continue to advocate inclusive governance, fairness, and institutional maturity in Nigeria.

He stressed that Nigeria is a secular republic governed by the Constitution, not a religious state, and that every qualified Nigerian regardless of religious background has the right to serve the nation.
From past INEC chairmen who were Muslims to the current Christian chairman, elections have been conducted without the nation collapsing, proving that competence and constitutional authority, not religion, define institutional legitimacy.
The CSGG warned that such rhetoric risks derailing the ongoing national conversation on unity, fairness, and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Coordinator emphasized that no group has the authority to threaten or undermine Nigeria’s democratic process, noting that elections belong to Nigerians and must be conducted in peace and mutual respect.
