CSGG Unveils Pro-Tinubu Coalition, Rejects Opposition Speculation Ahead of 2027
Abuja / Kaduna — The Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG) has formally unveiled a broad-based national coalition in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 General Election, declaring that emerging opposition permutations lack the structure, spread, and credibility to offer Nigerians a viable alternative at this stage of national reforms.
In a position paper released after consultations and opinion sampling across multiple constituencies, CSGG described recent opposition trial balloons as distractions aimed at slowing policy consolidation, insisting that continuity remains critical to Nigeria’s political and economic stability.
According to the organisation, none of the speculated aspirants possesses the nationwide coalition, tested party machinery, or governance depth required to defeat a sitting president implementing far-reaching reforms. While acknowledging ongoing debates within the political space, CSGG cautioned that such discussions should not be mistaken for viable electoral pathways.
Strategic Engagements Behind the Messaging
CSGG clarified that recent scenario-testing conversations circulating in the public domain were generated internally as part of a public affairs and perception-mapping exercise coordinated by leaders and allied stakeholders deliberately drawn from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The coalition, according to CSGG, also includes representatives and mobilisers from the North-Central, North-East, South-East, and South-South zones, bringing together civil society actors, women movements, professionals, technocrats, and grassroots organisers nationwide to consolidate support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
“No More Deception,” Coalition Warns
Addressing journalists, the coalition cautioned Nigerians against what it described as recycled narratives aimed at derailing reform momentum.
“We shall not allow Nigerians to be deceived again the way propaganda was deployed against former President Goodluck Jonathan,” the statement read. “Nigeria is on a reform path that must not be interrupted.”
CSGG stressed that President Tinubu should be allowed to complete his tenure without confrontation or manufactured distractions, noting that policy consistency is essential for delivering a clear political and economic roadmap for the country.

In a separate appeal, CSGG urged individuals allegedly moving discreetly across borders while denying interest in seeking the vice-presidential slot to allow President Tinubu to focus on delivering the four-year mandate entrusted to him by Nigerians.
The group said the administration has recorded considerable progress, particularly in defence and food security—areas it described as most critical to the everyday Nigerian.
CSGG noted with concern that some over-ambitious individuals have engaged in unusual activities, including quietly recruiting supporters to exaggerate personal popularity in a bid to influence consideration for the vice-presidential position in 2027.
While affirming support for healthy national discussions on inclusion and balance, the organisation emphasised that only the President has the prerogative to decide his running mate. It added that any such consideration must be guided by national interest, electoral value, and political stability,
while urging Nigerians to avoid premature succession politics.
CSGG further reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, saying its priority—alongside allied groups—is to help the administration deliver more dividends of democracy rather than be distracted by speculation.
